This was the final animation of my MA at Central Saint Martins, It combined a classical, illustrated storybook style with a paper cut-out short animation. Using a non spoken narrative storyline, it focuses on a little girl's fear of the dark and the unfamiliar.
All pieces were hand-drawn and painted, before being layered on Photoshop and animated using After Effects.
Inspiration came from looking at old toys and the sentiments that can be attached to them and how this can be brought into
the feeling of a dream world.
A series of initial character designs for the girl, the 'lumii' animal and plush pig characters - these being important in the telling of the story.
Character designs and angles all hand painted in gouache paint.
